Ever feel incompetent?
That emotion that leaves you feeling shriveled up inside; tiny, weak, unknowledgeable, incapable, unqualified, fearful.
I have felt it often and I've learned to stay out of and away from situations that need more than I can give. After all, we DO have our limitations of natural gifts and experience.
And that's true.... to a degree.
But then there are the times when I KNOW God wants me to go or do, or be involved in something that paralyzes me just THINKING about it. "I can't. I don't have what it takes. I'm afraid."
And then it seems I hear in my heart of hearts a gentle voice saying, "I know. But I'm with you and I will enable you to do what I've called you to do."
I have no place to go after that, except to walk forward in obedience, remembering that "our sufficiency (competence) comes from God" (II Corinthians 3:5b).
Fear doesn't HAVE to stop me - or you. Even though we are afraid we can STILL go ahead. We just do it ANYWAY - with HIS enabling. We do it afraid. We do it nervously, awkwardly. We shake or sweat. We may not be graceful or composed, BUT we do it.
And HE gets the glory!
